Westcott, September 26
REFUSE COLLECTIONS. Leaflets giving dates of collections from September have been delayed but will be shortly delivered to Westcott homes.
Residents, meanwhile, can follow those giving August dates at the usual intervals thereafter.
ST MARY'S CHURCH. Tea-time with Christian Aid will take place at Waddesdon Village Hall from 2p to 5pm on Saturday September 22. This event will include tea-tasting,, music and a hat making combination with a tea-time theme, with on the spot creations or 'one you made earlier'.
There will also be a 'surprise in a tea-box', a lucky dip and a plant stall and things to do for the children. Needless to say there will be refreshments with tea.
The harvest festival service at St Mary's will be held on October 7 at 6pm.
ST EDMUND'S CHURCH. The first barbecue to be held in the parish attracted about 45 people, and, rather than a fund-raising event, was intended to be a social occasion which Father Eric has pronounced to be a complete success.
The first three raffle prizes and the sixth, seventh and eighth were, by complete coincidence, won by St Edmund's parishioners. A small profit is expected when all expenses have been met.
A car boot sale is being arranged for October 6 from 9am and will be a fundraiser.
Car spaces can be booked for anyone interested by telephoning 01844 239189 after September 21. Further details to follow.
DON'T RISK A FINE is the title of a leaflet on the parish notice-board giving details of the penalties for fly-posting, littering, dog fouling etc. Fixed penalty notices can be issued by local council for fines from 50 to 200. You have been warned.
