‘We are lucky to have food superstar Like Raymond Blanc’, says festival organiser
Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc is expected to draw a record crowd to today’s (Friday) Thame food festival.
The owner of the Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons restaurant will be giving hints and tips during a n on-stage cooking demonstration and signing copies of his books.
Festival spokesman Julian Dorling said: “I don’t think we realise how lucky we are to have a superstar of the food world and get to see him up close and talk to him and it’s for free.
“He is so enthusiastic about anything he decides he wants to get involved in. Last year was the first that he was involved in and he was there all day just beaming from ear to ear. He just loved it.
“The queue at the book signing last year was immense, he is a big attraction.”

The festival, which is now in its fifth year, features 100 stallholders and a pop-up on-street pub run by the owners of The Thatch and James Figg.
Mr Dorling said: “It is a family day out, there is live music with the brass Thame Concert Band.
“There are kids’ workshops at Rumsey’s Chocolaterie, such as chocolate lollipop making from midday-4pm which is ticketed.
“There’s also a sausage-making workshop, another ticketed event, where participants get to use the machine and feed the meat through into the skin and then twist it at the end and take it home.”
Other highlights include Princes Risborough-based chef Beverley Glock running food science classes for children in the town hall and a cooking competition. The festival runs 9am-5pm. For details visit www.thamefoodfestival.co.uk
