An Aylesbury teaching assistant has set up a tailor made affordable maths tuition site, so that children from poorer backgrounds ‘don’t miss out’.

Mandeville School maths assistant Richard Convery, 25, of Elm Farm, currently tutors maths privately in his spare time, but says he frequently sees children who could use tuition, but simply cannot afford it.

As a result, the 25 year old who says he has a passion for pushing people into their desired career, has set up a service which allows him to test the child’s ability and create a bespoke tutoring service.

Former Aylesbury Grammar and Misbourne pupil Mr Convery said: “When I worked in accountancy, I just ended up hating my job, which isn’t a good thing when you spend so much time there. It just wasn’t for me.

“I think that’s where I got my passion for wanting to help people get into the right profession.

“These days, kids need at least a C in their GCSE maths.

“And maths tutoring isn’t the most affordable of things, meaning a lot of children end up missing out.”

The website, Numeracy Success, offers online video tutorials, worksheets, assessments and educational games. Parents can also monitor their children’s progress with end of program reports.
