Show some love for village shops

Melanie Bird (left) and Yvonne Bone plan to launch a loyalty card scheme in Wendover

Village shoppers will be able to show their love for businesses this Valentine’s Day when a new loyalty card scheme is launched.

A specially decorated stall will be selling the ‘I Love Wendover’ cards for £1 at the Thursday market in the village.

Anyone with a card will then have access to a range of offers from participating businesses in Wendover.

Melanie Bird, of A Little Bird Told Me gallery, came up with idea last year after seeing a similar system in Thame.

Following a successful campaign to get the scheme up and running, Ms Bird said: “The enthusiasm of all the members of Wendover Chamber of Trade and Commerce gives me great confidence that the card holders will join the scheme for fun as well as finding good offers when using the services of Wendover businesses.”

The scheme is being funded by Wendover Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

Organisers say the low membership price reflects the aim ‘to give the best possible value and services to customers’.

Any business in the village is eligible to sign up to the scheme. Shoppers should look out for posters in shop windows showing the business is part of the scheme. Mobile businesses will have car stickers.
