School disruption on cards

Teachers from across Bucks will continue their ongoing campaign for better pay and working practices next week.

The action, which is not a strike, will see members refraining from any aspects of their job which are not approved by a union – such as having extra pupils in their class for the day if another teacher is off sick.

Annette Pryce, secretary of the Bucks branch of the National Teachers’ Union, said: “The two teachers unions involved in the action represent at least 85% of the teaching workforce in Bucks.

“The action short of strike action is designed specifically to tackle the issues of excessive teacher workload and defend pay and conditions of service – using strategies which are pupil, parent and public-friendly.”
