A share of £25,000 has been split between community groups after 3,000 people voted on what projects they would like to see funded.

Residents chose from 14 projects to receive money from the Aylesbury and Wendover local area forums.

The results of ‘Choose 4 Greater Aylesbury’ saw £4,000 given to each of Young Carers Bucks, Bucks Play Association and Youth Concern for Nightstop emergency host accommodation.

The remaining £3,000 will be shared between Aylesbury Vale Youth for Christ for young people’s activities and Bucks Fire and Rescue Service for its Blue Light Project.

Aylesbury forum chairman, Councillor Mary Baldwin, said: “What a fantastic opportunity for residents of all ages to have their say. They’ve shown that the local area forum really does provide a voice for the community.”

In Wendover, people voted to give £3,000 each to Wendover Youth Centre for its Wharf Café, Young Carers Bucks and Bucks Play Association. Bucks Fire and Rescue Service’s Blue Light Project also got £1,000.

Wendover forum chairman, Councillor Bill Chapple, said: “This has given residents a real say in local affairs and a real understanding of the valuable projects working in the area.
