Princess Anne visits Aylesbury Vale
HER Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, was in Aylesbury Vale earlier today (Friday) visiting various sites throughout the area.
Her first engagement was to Stoke Mandeville Hospital where she opened the new Wendover Wing, which has 222 beds as well as a new day procedures unit with an endoscopy suite, pharmacy unit and admissions hall.
She was greeted at the hospital by Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lord Liuetenant for Buckinghamshire, who introduced her to the High Sheriff and the chairwomen of Aylesbury Vale District and Buckinghamshire County Councils.
Princess Anne's second visit was to manufacturing company, Dage, two-time winners of the Queens Awards for Enterprise, where she saw their work with x-ray machines that can look at digital microchips in minute detail.
A plaque was unveiled to commemerate her visit and she greeted staff from the company's sites throughout Aylesbury.
The last royal visit took place in Wendover at the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Association site on Bankside. It was here that Princess Anne turned the sod of a tree in the communal garden and was presented with a bouquet of flowers from 11-year-old John Hampden pupils Benjamin East and Abigail Askey.
After her visit to Aylesbury Vale, she was whisked off in a helicopter to attend a charity event at Windsor Castle having made a lasting, positive impression upon the people with whom she spoke.
