Police claim success in winter operation as burglaries fall by 22% across Aylesbury Vale
An operation to clamp down on wintertime burglaries across Aylesbury Vale has been hailed as a success by police.
Between October 1 and January 31 there were 36 fewer burglaries compared to the same period last year, a 22% reduction.
As part of Operation Arctic, run with the district council’s help, there were increased patrols by PCSOs in areas which have experienced numerous burglaries in previous years to help deter criminals.
There were also 17 home security roadshows run by the council’s community safety team and PCSOs in selected wards. Around 950 people at schools, train stations and supermarkets received free crime prevention packs.
