A special performance by the UK’s premier Indian classical dance specialist Nikita Thakrar got the first BSL Business Dinner Club off to a flying start.

Hotel staff draped colourful silk ceiling hangings in the business meeting rooms at New Road, Weston Turville for atmospherics for the Indian themed social networking dinner jointly organised by businessman Paul Bolton and hotel manager Ian Rees.

Business leaders attending the first of a series of monthly themed dinners represented a wide variety of corporate and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) such as Telefonica O2, Hillier Hopkins Corporate Recovery, The Archive Centre, Canon Moorcroft, Handelsbanken and Debello Law.

Main sponsor for the inaugural event was Bucks Business First.

Its managing director, Philippa Batting, congratulated the organisers for creating an exciting and unusual Private Members’ Dinner Club.

Managing director, of Bolton Services Paul Bolton said: “At each BSL Business Dinner Club, we create a defined, cohesive and private community of directors, partners and senior managers both of established and emerging businesses from the local area, helping to create new opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere, whilst also playing a part in supporting a nominated charity as well as the wider local community.”

“Many thanks to Philippa Batting and Lynne Cairns of BBF for the kind sponsorship and profiling of the event to their members. Also for Philippa’s presentation on the great support and assistance
Buckinghamshire Business First can provide to businesses in Bucks.

“We are also very pleased to support WheelPower as the charity of choice for the Aylesbury Dinner Club, mainly through a monthly raffle for prizes kindly donated by Holiday Inn Aylesbury”.

Nikita Thackrar talked about the growth of Kathak dance as an art form and
how she has built up a successful professional dance troupe, dance institute and wellbeing centre despite battling a life threatening illness this year.

She read a poem about dance she has written in a newly
published book, which particularly touched guest, Joyce Sheard who represented Wheelpower and gave an insight into what it was like to be a Paralympic judge during the 2012 Games.

The next is on November 15, with a Christmas business dinner on December 20.
