More disruption for patients after computer systems are changed yet again

Patients face potential problems with appointments at various health centres across the Vale when a new clinical computer system is set to be introduced this month.
Haddenham Medical Centre is one clinic to express its disappointment that it will be forced to change its system only six months after installing a previous one, Synergy.
The centre said the process of transferring patient data earlier in 2012 was a ‘big job’ and that it inevitably caused disruption to services.
The new system, EMIS, will be installed on January 18 with the support of Bucks Primary Care Trust with pre-booked appointments not being able to made until January 21. A trust spokesman said: “We are in a similar position. It’s unfortunate but it’s just one of those things.
“We are hoping disruption will be minimal. It’s quite difficult to predict, though. You like to think we have done the most preparation we can.”
The medical centre added that during the change it will not be able to provide routine bookable appointments or repeat prescriptions.
However, doctors will be available to offer urgent consultations during this period as before and patients are asked to order repeat prescriptions before January 11.
Patients at the centre will also need to register again with the new system with details being made available on www.haddenham.org at the end of January.
