Monkey in a box sign proposals again rejected
FURTHER plans to erect controversial ‘monkey in a box’ signage at an Aylesbury warehouse have been objected to.
The application, put to Aylesbury Vale District Council by Tring Road-based Store ‘N’ Go, is to put up four fascia signs, two individual letter signs, one vinyl letter sign and three post-mounted signs.
But Aylesbury Town Council has rejected the plans at the Wynne Jones Centre, saying they are unsuitable – as the council previously did, as reported in the Bucks Herald’s recent article about the chimpanzee in a box signage overlooking Tring Road cemetery.
In its objection, the town council’s planning committee stated: “This proposal is totally unacceptable at this important gateway approaching the town centre.
“Members will have seen from articles in the local newspaper and television news that the wider public, as well as the town council, find the signage too large, inappropriate and distasteful, particularly as it can be seen from within the adjacent cemetery. The sign can be seen from the canal bridge which is about a quarter of a mile away.
“Also some trees and shrubbery surrounding the centre have been removed. These areas are now a complete mess with litter, and graffiti on the buildings has been exposed.”
Plans will now be scrutinised by Aylesbury Vale District Council.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 04:44 AMNo one else noticed the taxis running around town (non Avdc) licences by Rutland council and operated with a Aylesbury companyphone number on doors. Cheaper licence and drivers don't need the stringent checks that AVDC do. Apparently there is 10 of them and AVDC can't do anything, and police are not interested. Stinks if our ask me.

Monday, February 20, 2012 at 03:36 PM"Plans will now be scrutinised by Aylesbury Vale District Council." = Awaiting a different kind of monkey in a box ... This must be a misprint "as well as the town council, find the signage too large, inappropriate and distasteful," ...don't they mean... "as well as the town council, which is too large, inappropriate and distasteful, to all local tax payers?" JR - I actually cannot say what I think about that on a public forum as I'll be branded ...

Monday, February 20, 2012 at 12:16 AMAnd what about the monkey in a box advertisements plastered all over the A&D taxis? According to AVDC taxi rules and regs, you are not allowed to advertise on the vehicles other than the taxi company itself and yet they have numerous vehicles out and about, all with adverts on them. What's the point of making a set of rules if you don't enforce them?
