Have your say on flood plans for Bucks

Families are being asked for their views on a new plan outlining how Bucks will cope with the risk of floods.

The Flood Risk Management Strategy, produced by the county council, aims to show what will be done between now and 2018 to manage the risks.

It will consider issues such as flooding from intense rainfall, groundwater, and ordinary watercourses – which are not the responsibility of the Environment Agency (which looks after main rivers).

It is estimated there may be up to 30,000 properties across Buckinghamshire that could be at risk of flooding.

Councillor David Schofield, chairman of Buckinghamshire Strategic Flood Management Group, said: “The strategy outlines our approach to tackling flood risk in the county.

“It highlights our intention to tackle the areas and communities at greatest risk using a variety of different approaches from improved drainage systems and co-ordinated maintenance, to supporting communities in developing flood groups and being more prepared for flood events.

“We have listened to residents’ views in developing this strategy and this further consultation is vital in ensuring that we have identified the best options to lower the flood risk and we welcome residents’ views on their priority.”

> You can have your say on the strategy until November 16.
