Final whistle blows for JJB Sports with company set to appoint administrators ahead of closure
A major sports clothing outlet is going into administration.
JJB Sports, which has 180 outlets in the UK including one in Aylesbury at Vale Retail Park, has spent the past month in talks with buyers such as Sports Direct.
However, the company does not expect to receive any offers for its shares and fears are growing regarding thousands of jobs nationwide.
In a statement from the company, it said that stores would remain open for trading while they look to appoint an administrator, likely to be KPMG.
Half of the stores are expected to close but it remains unclear whether Aylesbury will be one of those.
The Vale Park store employs approximately 10 to 20 people.
