Exclusive: Woman tells of horror ordeal with ‘leech’ Savile

A former employee at Stoke Mandeville Hospital has described the horror of being lured to Jimmy Savile’s flat and molested.

The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, was just 17 when she claims the television star forced himself upon her. The woman worked in the kitchen at the spinal unit and one night in 1983, found herself the attention of Savile and was invited back to his hospital flat on the pretence of watching a film with a group of people.

However, upon arriving she found herself alone with Savile in the flat she described as a basic single room with a solitary window and a bedside drawer.

She said: “There was nowhere else to sit but his single bed. It was a sordid little room, I was shocked, really.”

The former hospital worker was the only one to arrive and said she did not think she was in any danger ‘because it was Jimmy Savile’.

However, after offering her a chocolate and letting her try on his bracelet he suddenly lurched at her.

She said: “He pushed my shoulders back on the bed and he was like a leech on my face, trying to put his tongue down my throat. It was like a skeleton. He was obviously quite excited.

“I think it was a knee-jerk reaction but I pushed him away and he fell backwards. I didn’t even look to see if he hurt himself. I picked up my bag and coat and ran out of there like grease lightning.

“I realised when I ran out of there, no-one else was invited, it was just a ploy.”

The woman saw the Jim’ll Fix It Star the following day and recalled how he gave her £5 and put his finger to his lips, telling her to ‘keep her mouth shut’.

Told by her parents not to tell anyone as they would not believe her, the woman said she counts herself as one of the ‘lucky ones’ to escape Savile’s clutches. She has reported the incident to Thames Valley
Police.

It has now been passed to the Metropolitan Police. The force estimate that more than 40 people could have been sexually abused by the star.

While believing she was the only one to be preyed upon, the woman did believe bosses at the hospital knew what was happening.

“I can’t see how they couldn’t know. I think they were scared of him, he was such a powerful figure. He totally abused his position and the power he built up.”

The woman also said she later encountered the DJ when enjoying a family meal at Carlos’ Portuguese restaurant in Aylesbury back in 2005.

Her family opted to stay but as she made her way to the toilet Savile grabbed her arm.

She asked him how he could remember her to which the presenter replied ‘you left an earring on my pillow’.

The woman added she felt physically sick and was glad when she heard he had died last year. She also hoped any trace of Savile would now be ‘wiped out’.
