Crime fell by 16 per cent in the Vale last year
CRIME in Aylesbury fell by 16 per cent last year.
That is according to figures from the Aylesbury Vale Community Safety Partnership’s latest review.
This data means that there were in fact 1,178 fewer crimes took place across the district.
The partnership, which includes Aylesbury Vale District Council, Bucks County Council and Thames Valley Police, has been aided by initiatives implemented by the group.
These include issuing 600 free light timer switches to help prevent house burglaries, launching a campaign to help reduce the number of Land Rover thefts in the Vale, and visiting rural locations to provide residents with crime reduction advice, respond to local concerns, and ensure residents in more isolated locations are supported.
The partnership wants to hear the views of residents and businesses on crime and anti-social behaviour so it can set priorities for the next year.
Councillor Pam Pearce, responsible for community matters at the district council, said: “Aylesbury Vale is already a safe place and crime is on the decline.
“However, the partnership is working to make it even safer and we need the input of residents to help us achieve this aim.”

Friday, February 24, 2012 at 01:06 PMJR, you know as well as I do that you can prove anything with statistics. The Government kept telling us for years that unemployment was falling, it wasn't, it was just being counted in a different way each time.

Monday, February 20, 2012 at 12:49 PMInteresting article - but how does that sit with all the murders that happened last year? The lady along the Wendover road & the one along the Bicester road are just two that spring to mind. And I heard on the radio this morning "Police say across Thames Valley there's been a 7% increase in the number of people going to court charged with hate crime.". So is hate crime not counted as a crime then?
