It might just be a humble piece of cardboard but after 25 years of business a box manufacturer is proving how vital its services are.
Aylesbury Box’s commercial director, Luke Jamieson, 41, has run the company for the last 12 years with his step-brother and production director, Matthew Whalley, 41.
He said: “It’s (boxes) such an important part of businesses. We’re at the end of the manufacturing line. The whole factory can grind to a halt without us, it’s pretty crucial.
The company tailors boxes to businesses particular needs within a 30 mile radius of Aylesbury.
“We supply to all sorts of industries, a huge range. There’s lots of competition around here.
“You try to compete on price and on service. We would not have been here for 25 years if we didn’t do that.”
Mr Jamieson said away from the boxes, he and Mr Whalley were both dedicated to their young families, with the former’s children attending Brill CofE Combined School.
“We both have three children. So my life at the moment is football and activities on the weekends. It’s all about looking after the family and keeping the business going.”
The company has carried out some unique jobs including producing boxes to be used by Pinewood Studios for stunt men.
Mr Jamieson added the secret to its success was knowing its customers.
“We make sure they can get exactly what they need. We are integral to that production.
“There’s no reason why we can’t do another 25 years.”
