Needy children and pensioners will benefit this festive season from a £10,000 donation from a generous car wash boss.

And to back up the gift Bucks Community Foundation director Richard Dickson has pledged to boost Arif Rehman’s amount to a massive £25,000 thanks to a Christmas bonus of match funding and gift aid.

Mr Rehman, who owns Pitstop hand car wash, said he was donating the money, generated from advertising hoardings at the site on Gatehouse Way, to help support those who are struggling to stay warm and pay their winter fuel bills.

He said: “It will hopefully make for a better Christmas for many of them.

“I feel that vulnerable children and the elderly get forgotten about.”

“Sometimes you need to look closer to home rather than outside the country when donating.”

Mr Rehman has owned his car wash business for six years and said it is the first time he has been able to donate such a large figure.

“It’s the first time I’m giving it away from the advertising.

“However, anytime anybody comes here for any charity I contribute always.

“Anybody who walks in off the street then I will always contribute.”

Mr Dickson was quick to praise the businessman for his significant contribution.

He said: “This is an exceptionally generous thing to do for the benefit of people in need.”

“The generosity of people and businesses never ceases to

surprise me.

“He is such a great example to everyone. It’s wonderful what he’s doing.”

Mr Rehman has advertised 36 sponsors on the hoardings at the site since he introduced them this time last year.

The car wash owner continued: “We forget about the less fortunate and sometimes we have to remind them that we do think about them.

“If you are fortunate enough then you should try and help. Everyone donates to Cancer Research everywhere.

“We as a nation and the British public are very generous people.

“There’s a lot of people who do donate and have direct debits going out to charities but it’s not public knowledge.

“But I just feel they (the young and elderly) get forgotten about.

“I’m hoping it will encourage other businesses and other individuals to come forward.”

Mr Rehman said his employees had been surprised when he told them what he was doing.

“They are really glad and happy that we are in such a

position.

“Everyone is surprised. It’s a good thing that we are doing it.”

Mr Rehman thanked all of his customers for using the car wash services, the sponsors for their advertising and David Fowler of ACH for allowing him to put up the hoardings.
