Boss aiming to make ‘hard and fast’ start at MS Centre
Jo Woolf
The chief executive at a new multiple sclerosis centre has welcomed the challenged following its grand opening.
Jo Woolf joined Chilterns MS Centre in Halton five months ago and is excited after the new £1.4 million building opened last week.
She said: “It’s fantastic, it’s the most incredible opportunity.”
Mrs Woolf said the next few months will prove crucial to its success.
“I think we will be stretched for the next three to five months. We have a huge building to keep warm.
“My job is to make sure we fundraise and raise awareness. I need to fundraise hard and fast for the operational costs.”
The centre will cost approximately £500,000 a year to operate.
However, such a price means it will be able to provide state-of-the-art care for MS sufferers and their families.
Mrs Woolf added: “I want us to be seen as a leader and an innovative centre of excellence.”
The centre boasts new equipment such as a double hyperbaric chamber for oxygen therapy.
The South African, who moved to the Vale 10 years ago, said the centre would make full use of the new building (it now measures 1,300 sq metres compared to the old site’s 500).
“Every piece of space we have here will be working. It will be an absolute hub of activity.”
The former nurse added: “If you were unwell you feel very special and confident coming into a place like this. This is an amazing place to be treated.”
