Aylesbury Vale Academy plan redrawn amid parking fears
ACADEMY: Plans to move Aylesbury Vale Academy to a new site on the Berryfields estate have been redrawn following anger over a lack of parking spaces.
On Tuesday next week, County Hall bosses will weigh up a fresh bid to move the academy from its current Weedon Road location.
An extra 59 parking spaces have been included in the plans amid fears the academy could turn into a ‘nightmare’.
It follows a fraught planning meeting in December, when politicians refused to approve the application unless the 146 parking spaces and eight disabled bays were increased.
A report by planning officer Shereen Ansari, prepared ahead of Tuesday’s development control committee, states: “The site has been re-designed to allow the car park to be expanded by an additional 59 spaces without adversely affecting the educational facilities should the need arise.”
Councillors have been recommended to give the bid a thumbs up.
The academy, in Berryfields Lane, which will cater for up to 1,500 students, is scheduled to open in September 2013.
