Eight Vale buildings have been praised at the 2012 Design Awards.

The building projects praised by the Aylesbury Vale District Council Design Award judges were as follows:

Joint winners:

The New Inn visitor centre at Stowe Landscape Gardens

Rammamere, a contemporary house near Stockgrove

Highly commended:

Beam Cottage at Cuddington

The Old Brewery House at Ivinghoe

Commended:

Buckmaster Farm in Horton

Cartref Barn in Grendon Underwood

The Granary in Chearsley

The Serpentine in Aylesbury

The design awards were started to encourage improved design and architecture in the district, with architects, builders and residents invited to submit entries to the awards says the district council whose judging panel visited each shortlisted site.

Councillor Sue Polhill, responsible for planned development, design and conservation at the authority, said: “It was very difficult to pick the winners this year as the entries were fantastic from all over the area.

“I’m so pleased to see so many developers and residents taking the care and effort to design things well for the area.

“These buildings really are something to be proud of.”
