Aylesbury multi-cultural centre plans to expand

A community arts centre is seeking to build a £100,00 two-storey extension to cope with demand and improve its music facilities.

An initial planning application has been submitted to expand the Multi Cultural Centre at Friarage Road, Aylesbury.

Chairman of the centre and Aylesbury Vale District Council councillor Andy Huxley said: “We need more space to run our ongoing music project which provides facilities for younger people to improve their skills.

“It will also provide a larger reception and office area.

“We have been living with a little pokey area for some time.”

The extension would be located at the front of the building with public consultation concluding on February 8.

Mr Huxley said it was early days for the plans but that one potential issue would be satisfying neighbours that there will be no noise problems.

The Quarrendon councillor said they are also looking to incorporate a film studio in the 220-person venue.
