Aylesbury MP steps in over 3,000 homes appeal
David Lidington
Aylesbury MP David Lidington has written to the Communities and Local Government Secretary objecting to an attempt to sidestep the district council over plans for 3,000 homes on the edge of town.
Last month the Hampden Fields consortium, which wants to build between Bedgrove and Weston Turville, appealed to the Government to decide on the plans at the same time as proposals for Fleet Marston. But Mr Lidington said it would be wrong for this appeal to be accepted.
Shortly before the developers applied for non-determination, revised plans for the site were submitted to Aylesbury Vale District Council with some significant changes, including a reduction in the number of houses by 200.
But Mr Lidington said: “It would be wrong for his [Mr Pickles’] Department or the Planning Inspectorate to accept the Hampden Fields case for decision at this stage, when there has not been anything approaching a reasonable time for the revised proposals to be considered locally.”
Inspectors are understood to still be considering whether to accept the case.
