Aylesbury loan shark admits to illegally lending thousands to colleagues

An Aylesbury loan shark has pleaded guilty to illegal money lending.

Keith White, 57, of Chantry Road, admitted to lending money to work colleagues for almost three years.

It is thought White charged an interest rate of £30 per £100, and lent money to around 30 of his colleagues.

Trading Standards’ England Illegal Money Lending Team believes he was lending out amounts of up to £4,000 per month.

White was arrested in July this year when officers executed warrants at his home and his workplace, both in Aylesbury, seizing documentary evidence including two diaries, listing the names of the 30 colleagues and the amounts he lent to them.

White pleaded guilty to the offences at his first court hearing last Tuesday at Aylesbury Magistrates Court.

He was investigated and is being prosecuted by the England Illegal Money Lending Team, working in partnership with Bucks County Council.

White is to be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court later this month.

Tony Quigley, head of the England Illegal Money Lending Team, said: “Loan sharks are not offering a community service, and should be avoided at all costs.”
