Workers from Aylesbury will march in London this weekend in protest at the government’s ongoing austerity cuts.

A free coach will drive the Vale’s public servants and anyone else that wishes to join them to the trade union-organised rally in Hyde Park.

Steve Bell, from the Bucks Save Our Services campaign and health branch of Unison, said: “Working and unemployed people across Bucks are paying for the crisis of the banks through cuts in pay, job losses, cuts to benefits.

“Yet the top 1% see their wealth increasing and politicians estimate we now face a further eight years of austerity.

“Union leaders state we have only seen 15% of the cuts so far.

“Our branch committee recently supported a resolution calling for support for a 24-hour national strike.

“This hasn’t come out of thin air, but from the discussions that we have had from not only the members we have been campaigning with – also with members of the public.

“Our branch has been dealing with the non-payment of wages and redundancies in the private sector, to cuts in pay and redundancies in the NHS.

“We also see the effects of the cutting of benefits for working people, having to send our clients to food banks when people’s benefits are cut off with no notice or having to wait weeks if they have just lost work.

“This is not the type of society that we wish to see and that’s why we have to stand up and oppose these cuts.

“To borrow a phrase, ‘all working people are in it together’. United we can change things.”

> Coaches will leave Aylesbury from opposite Whitehill surgery at 8am and return after the demonstration. For a place call Steve Bell on 07789 915221.
