A new weekly folk club is to start up next month (September).

The Aylesbury Folk Club will be held on Friday evenings at Queens Park Arts Centre, hosted by the centre’s resident artists Amanda Diamond and Eddy Richards.

The new club will encompass plenty of activities with three main strands.

Folk in the Annexe will take place on the first, third and fifth Fridays of the month in the Queens Park annexe building, offering folk fans the chance to meet, chat, enjoy great music and maybe even get up and perform themselves.

The second Friday of the month will see Aylesbury Folk Club take over Queens Park Open Mic Nights. These open mic nights give an opportunity to singers, dancers and entertainers of all kinds to step into the limelight, but on second Fridays that limelight will be reserved for a folk focus.

The fourth Friday, taking place at the Limelight Theatre within the arts centre, will be a chance to catch some of the best UK folk acts in action at monthly Guest Nights. The autumn season will see Gimore and Roberts perform in September, followed by Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer in October and Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar in November.

Annexe and open mic sessions cost £2.50 for performers, £4.50 for spectators, £3.50 for under 16s.

Tickets to the theatre shows are £12.50, concessions £10.50.
