Pint-sized sprinter Kai Davies will be donning his Spider-Man costume and taking part in a special 5k run in memory of his great-grandmother.
Seven-year-old Kai and his mum, Samantha, will be teaming up to take part in the Florrie’s Superhero 5km fun run on Sunday, May 3.
Samantha said: “Kai is so excited about running it.
“His great nana passed away from pancreatic cancer three years ago. Kai has fond memories of her, as every time we visited, she would come out with some grapes for him. He started calling her ‘Nana with the grapes’.
“So we’ve registered to take on the fun run in memory of her, but to also to help support local children who are cared by the Florrie’s Children’s Hospice at Home team.
“We’ve managed to run a full 3K so far and he still insists on doing a sprint finish.
“The rate he’s going, I think he’ll end up running the whole 5K!”
There is still time to sign up for the Superhero 5K Fun Run in support of the Florries Children’s Team, which sets off from Aylesbury Market Square at 10am.
As well as music and entertainment on the day, the event organisers are set to unveil the new children’s team mascot, Florrie Bear.
Register online at www.aylesburysuperhero.co.uk. Entry costs £10 per adult, £7.50 per child and under-twos go free.
