It's a result as A-Day students make the grade

Students across Aylesbury Vale nervously opened their A-level results on Thursday – and happily many were given cause to celebrate.

There were scenes of jubilation at the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School as results were up on last year for both AS and A2 levels with the latter up by four per cent.

Deputy headteacher Andrea Hanhan said: "Overall it is a really big improvement on last year – a few of our students have got A stars, one girl has three A stars and two As."

Meanwhile, Aylesbury Vale Academy achieved good A-level results in its first year since after changing from Quarrendon School.

Four out of six students who took A-levels are now heading off to university.

For a full report including news and pictures from other schools across the Vale, see this week's Bucks Advertiser, out Friday.
