Is 'beast of Bucks' responsible for sheep deaths?
IN the week after farmers saw a number of their sheep ripped apart, an Aylesbury Vale man claims to have seen a 'big cat' prowling the hedgerows.
Possessing a powerful frame and a strong jaw to grasp and hold large prey, the beast recently sighted in the Vale would certainly find sheep easy prey.
The panther or puma-like creature was recently sighted between Weedon and Aston Abbotts- but vets say they are sure the recent attacks inflicted on more than 100 sheep in the Wing area were perpertrated by dogs.
Jeff Roberts, a worker in Wing, witnessed the animal after being flagged down by the driver of a Land Rover.
He said: "I stopped to see what was wrong and he said there was a black panther. He was driving along the same bit of road that I was and it just walked across straight in front of him.
"We both stayed there and watched it. He took photos and he drove up to it, but then it went into the hedge.
"I went back to the unit and the guy who owns that said he has seen two and I've seen it again since then."
