A family say their ‘faith in humanity’ has been restored after thousands of members of the public joined the search when their dog was stolen.

Paddy, the one-year-old cain terrier was taken on Bank Holiday Monday, and youths taking him was captured on CCTV.

Sadly he has still not been returned, but kind hearted members of the public have shared the appeal on Facebook 108,000 times.

The CCTV footage shows inquisitive Paddy coming out of the family’s dog flap after hearing the intruders trying to break in to the Berryfields home. His collar was later found disgarded nearby.

Owner Linda Reynolds, said: “I can’t tell you how choked up I get just thinking about all of those wonderful caring people out there and it’s reminded me that the majority of people are good, empathetic, caring folk.

“We still haven’t found Paddy, we continue to hope, but when social media is so often lambasted in the press this I feel is a good news story that deserves to be shared, whatever the eventual outcome.
