An extract from a Bucks Herald column has been featured in one of the most controversial and talked about sports books of the year.

Back in March, sports columnist Crispin Andrews wrote a piece defending beleaguered cricket star Kevin Pietersen who had been exiled from the England team amid a poor run of form and allegations about his attitude.

Pietersen has included a sizeable extract from the column – entitled ‘Without the clique’s biggest critic the team will suffer’ – in Chapter 24 of his book KP: The Autobiography which was released earlier this month.

He also favourited a link to the column on Twitter when it was originally published on The Herald website.

Crispin, 43, from Aylesbury, a freelance writer and journalist said: “I am not surprised by the controversy the book has generated.

“You would think this would signal the end of his England career but who knows.”
