Gardening charity digs deep to help MS centre
Jo Woolf
Patients at a multiple sclerosis charity will get their fingers greener after a generous donation of gardening tools.
Chilterns MS Centre, Wendover, has been given a selection off tools from the recently disbanded Buckinghamshire Association for Gardening with Disabled People and will use them within its own gardens.
Chief executive of the centre, Jo Woolf, said: “We plan to link up with key volunteering charities locally and offer those with disabilities an opportunity to help maintain our gardens. We will also be asking our own members who would like the opportunity to garden to get involved too.
“We would like to say a big thank you to the charity, which has now unfortunately disbanded, for the garden tools. We received a variety of hand held tools such as rakes, hoes and forks.
“Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact us on 01296 696133.”
The centre provides services and advice to people with MS and their families and carers. It helps by offering a number of life changing and supportive therapies and treatments that are effective for the patient.
Former chair of the gardening association, Ros Aitken, said: “We thought the centre would be able to benefit from our tools. We are delighted they are going to another charity and will be able to help people with disabilities to garden.”
