Work is under way on a new sports centre which will benefit a school as well as the whole community.
Students and staff at Princes Risborough School attended the ground cutting ceremony at the new Princes Risborough Community Sports Centre this week.
The pupils even helped to dig the first piece of earth under the direction of the contractor Beards.
Based in school grounds, the centre will also be available for use by the community at large.
And school spokesman Ian Moore said pupils have already started taking about what they plan to do in the new development.
He said: “Students have described their excitement as they can see progress, and the reality of a sports centre by the autumn of this year and say it will be nice to play sport out of the rain.
“Students are now turning their attention to trialling the gym equipment they would like to see in the fitness studio.”
