SCHOOL. The Parents and Friends Association is holding a shopping event in Waddesdon Village Hall on Saturday, October 6, 1.30-4.30pm. Stall holders will include books, jewellery and bags and the Pampered Chef (which gave a cookery demonstration in the school last year).
Refreshments will be available. Profits to school funds. Advance information about a second open day to be held on Wednesday October 31 to note in your diaries now. Details later.

ST EDMUND'S CHURCH. Becky, who cared for Tim Gadsden during his long illness until his death, has now left the village to thank parishioners for all their kindness and support to her and Tim, and regrets that it was not possible to say personal farewells to them. Beck will be missed and welcome any time she is in this vicinity.
A car boot sale will be held in the car park of Our Lady of Light Church, Long Crendon on Saturday, October 6 from 9am. The parish will have its own stall and donations will be welcome, excluding clothes, electrical goods and books. Car spaces can be booked by contacting 01844 239189.

THE MOBILE LIBRARY VAN will be at the usual venues and times on October 12 and 26.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING, September 18.
Road surface, High Street to A41. A road closure had been notified for August 9/10 but works were not carried out due to the pipeline contractor's difficulties at the airfield entrance. The work is rescheduled for this month.
Improved play facilities. AVDC is to meet the council and advise on this. Moneys are available from The White Swan developers for this purpose.
Public rights of way. At its next meeting, the possibility of a scheme to improve the public footpaths and bridleways will be discussed. Councillors or the clerk will be pleased to receive any comments from the public on this.
60th Anniversary. Westcott Parish Council was formed in 1947. Members considered whether to organise an event to celebrate this but decided not to do so as it is not as significant as the 50th anniversary when a Civic Service and Exhibition was held.
Village Green. Broken glass has been left on the green recently and users should be aware of this, any unacceptable behaviour concerning drink reported to the police.
White Swan site. The official name for the new housing is Swan Court, the name put to AVDC by the parish council. Thee houses are being marketed as Washington Park, which is confusing.
Next Meeting. Tuesday, October 30 at 7.30pm. Members of the public are reminded that there is a short slot at the beginning of each meeting when questions can be put to councillors.
