MOBILE LIBRARY VAN. Visits this month are at the usual venue and times will be Fridays November 9 and 23.
THE VILLAGE MAGAZINE is delivered to every household in Westcott each month and is now under new editorship.
If for any reason you do not receive a copy, please let me know. It is full of news concerning Waddesdon and Winchendon as well as that for Westcott, including the local churches and schools and parish council reports and social events.
ST EDMUND'S CHURCH. There will be a parish supper on Saturday November 11 at 7.30pm for 8pm in Ashendon Village Hall. Tickets 10, under 16 5. To reserve a place either add your name to the lists at the back of either church or telephone 01296 658810.
Wine will be on sale or bring your own drinks. Dietary requirements, including vegetarian food, should be requested in advance from the above number. This event will be one of a few fundraising activities decided upon at the last parish meeting held on October 17 and these will be held early in 2008. The next parish meeting will be on Tuesday February 12 at 7.30pm in the John Butler Hall, Long Crendon.
PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION OF WESTCOTT SCHOOL. Results of fundraising events are a s follows: Bag2School collection weighed in at 280kg raising 70; Autumn Shopping Fair made 260 profit; the CD Bell Autumn Plant Sale "200 profit; Northbrook wrapping paper orders, 26 profit for minimal effort. The PFA extends grateful thanks to all who supported these events.
RO PENSIONERS GET-TOGETHER, OCTOBER 27. The principal organiser, Di Hickman, reports that about 40 people attended, including the stalwart Percy Young, aged 91, and up to this year driving himself to the function. The raffle towards the appeal for a digital eye camera and for guessing the name of the dog raised about 100.
YOUR CORRESPONDENT has been asked whether Ashendon news can be included in this column since the village has no local correspondent. I should be pleased to consider copy from other villages adjacent to Westcott, but space is limited and the final decision to print is always with The Bucks Herald.
