ROAD CLOSURE IN WESTCOTT. On Sunday December 9, the stretch of village road between the A41 and Burnham Road will be closed for repairs all day.

Drivers are recommended to use alternative routes as shown in the official notice in The Bucks Herald.

THE LAST PARISH COUNCIL MEETING of 2007 will be held on Tuesday December 11 at 7.30pm in the cricket pavilion. Remember that the first item on the agenda is an open forum in which those members of the public present can raise any item of concern. The full agenda is always posted on the parish notice-board at least three days before each meeting.

THE MOBILE LIBRARY VAN will call at the usual venues and times on Fridays December 7 and 21.

EX-RPE AND RO EMPLOYEES who have died recently include Terry Bateman and Cis Steward. Each married other employees at the base, to whom condolences are extended. This column will publish news of any ex-employees if those who might be in touch with them will let your correspondent know.

THE WILLIAM TURNER CHARITY is the third on which Westcott has a representative. It was founded by him in 1784 for the relief of poverty in the villages of Westcott, Waddesdon and Woodham. Since the grinding poverty of those days has not applied since the advent of the welfare state, the charity now accepts applications from anyone of any age in genuine need by reason of changed circumstances and short of essentials for basic living. Applications should be addressed to the Clerk of the Trustees, 37 Frederick Street, Waddesdon, Aylesbury, Bucks HP18 OLU, giving full details, which will be treated in strict confidence.
