Time stands still as Winslow church rings the changes

A CLOCK in Winslow has been stopped to allow for £60,000 of restoration work to take place on a church's bells, and BHTV has been speaking to a local bell ringer.

Eight bells were removed over three days from St Laurence Church and taken to Whites of Appleton to be worked on.

This will allow for the renovation of the ringing and bell chambers.

As well as the usual chimes every 15 minutes, the bells play the tenor

part of the St David tune every third hour.

However as the works take place, the clock has been stopped and the town will now fall silent for around four months.

The Bucks Herald's Winslow reporter Richard Hartley-Parkinson has been speaking to Winslow bell ringer Diana Slevin about the expensive restoration for BHTV.
