Southern growth arc - not a done deal

AVDC's Cabinet re-emphasised this week that all the options for delivering the targets set by Government for housing growth around Aylesbury are being considered.

The Cabinet was responding to views expressed by local people, that the southern arc was the only option now under consideration and that in effect, the preferred option that AVDC will have to submit to Government in summer, is already a done deal.

Cllr Carole, Paternoster, Cabinet Member for Planned Development, emphasised, "When we consulted the public last summer, based on the information and technical evidence available at the time, growth to the south of Aylesbury appeared to be the most likely option. However, it was always accepted that a great deal more of work would need to be done between then and agreeing the Council's final preferred option in summer 2008.

"This work has been ongoing and has included looking at all other options so that we have the necessary information available to make a final decision in the summer. The Cabinet wants to make it very clear that there is still work to be done and that the proposed southern arc option is still under consideration together with all other options. It is most important that we find the right solution for the future growth of Aylesbury."
