Pitstone and Ivinghoe news March 31
PIPs NEWS. The local drama group PIPs – Pitstone and Ivinghoe Players – has made good progress since its formation last August and now has 17 'supporters'.
But the group is still some way off putting on its first production. "Many of the people who are interested in working with the group want to work behind the scenes," said spokesman Dave Sivers. "These roles are extremely important, and we can't do a play without them – but we need more actors, especially men." Assuming PIPs can draw in a few more board-treaders, they have pencilled in the late autumn for a possible first performance. If you are interested in acting, helping behind the scenes, or simply making a donation to PIPs, contact Dave Sivers on 01296 662823.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL. With about 150 children playing in seven different teams, Pitstone and Ivinghoe Junior Football Club is the largest group within Pitstone and Ivinghoe Sports Association, but it costs some 3,000 per annum to meet basic running costs. The club is enjoying a successful season on the fundraising front, with the Christmas bingo raising a record 474, but needs to keep up the good work. The next event will be an Easter bingo night in Pitstone Memorial Hall on Tuesday April 13. All are welcome. For more information, contact Caroline Hillier on 01296 662333.
CRICKET. Ivinghoe and Pitstone United Cricket Club is looking forward to another busy season with a full programme of Sunday friendly matches and midweek evening competitive league and knock-out games. It is hoped that the colts section will also be in a league. Help is always appreciated – contact Andrew Gould on 01296 661855 for more information.
WI. Ivinghoe and Pitstone WI hold their April meeting at 7.45pm in Ivinghoe Town Hall on Thursday April 8. Guest speaker Dorothy Sutton, from Bovingdon, will give a talk entitled The Independent Stewardess. This month's competition is an Airline Menu. All are welcome.
