LIBRARY. Library manager Barbara Paul congratulates all those who completed the Summer Reading Scheme 'The Big Wild Read' and were awarded certificates.

The branch winner was Charlie Carless. The competitions were judged by former Haddenham librarian Gill Clipsham, who had a difficult job as everyone did very well.

The lucky winners were:- Harry Potter Quiz - Alice Thomson; Decorated Folders - Anna Bockmuehl, Olivia Flaxton, Michael Borchart, Tom Forecast; Poems - Alyssa Brown, Hattie Forbes-Russell, Daphne Forbes-Russell; Decorated Trees - Hannah Law, Honey Reed, Oliver Cartwright, Lily Hunter, Millie Nunn, Nathan Cartwright, Abbie Leigh, Gabriel Bailey, Holly Lambkin, Olivia Bartholomew, Megan Hunter, Jessie Leigh. All these winners should ask for their prizes at the library counter and others who took part can collect a consolation prize.

COFFEE SHOP. The former butcher's shop on Banks Parade, which has lain empty for many months, was due to reopen as a coffee shop and restaurant, called Terrace Garden, on Monday.

It will be open for breakfasts, sandwiches and coffee from 8am on weekdays and will serve lunches with a Mediterranean flavour – including freshly made pizzas. From tomorrow, it will also be open for evening meals and on Sundays it will be open from about 10am until 3pm.

MUSEUM. In a new venture this year, the Haddenham Museum Trust has commissioned a Christmas card from Mike Parsons, whose greetings cards, featuring watercolour views of the village, and calendars have been on sale at the museum for some years.

The card, with a photo of St Mary's Church in the snow, is 3 for a pack of six and the calendar, featuring photos taken in the village, is 6. Both items are on sale in the museum (open Sundays 2-4.30pm and Tuesdays 10am-12noon) and at Blooming Fruity.

RECYCLING. Don't forget to put your glass box out next Tuesday as well as your paper, cans and plastic bottles.

THIS WEEK. Visitors and/or prospective members will be welcome at any of the meetings publicised below.

Medical Centre. Haddenham Medical Centre will be closed this afternoon (from 12.30pm) for this month's 'Protected Time for Learning' session. Emergency cover is provided during this time.

Ramble. Thame and Wheatley Ramblers would welcome villagers who'd like to join them on a circular six mile walk tomorrow, leaving Banks Park at 10am and going via Westlington, Dinton, Ford and Aston Sandford before returning to Haddenham at about 1pm. No dogs please and remember to wear suitable clothes and footwear for stiles and muddy paths.

WEA AGM. As a number of villagers attend WEA Carry on Learning sessions and/or day schools and short courses in Haddenham, they (and other interested persons) are invited to the annual meeting of the West Bucks Villages Branch of the WEA tomorrow (11.30am) at Church House, High Street, Long Crendon. The short AGM will be followed by a talk by Colin Oakes entitled Archaeology: A Career that Lies in Ruin, and by lunch.

Jumble Sale. Haddenham and District Conservative Association will be holding another of its giant jumble sales on Saturday (2pm) at the village hall. Admission is 20p. If you have books, clothes, toys, bric-a-brac or tools to donate (but no electrical or large items), please take them along to the hall on Saturday (10am-noon) or call Brian Foster on 290520.

Worship. St Mary's own worship band - 100% Worship – will, for the second time this year, be leading an hour of contemporary Christian worship, with a blend of new and familiar songs and choruses, followed by refreshments, on Saturday (8pm) at the Youth and Community Centre, Woodways.

St Mary's Fellowship. There will be a bring-and-buy stall at Monday's tea and chat meeting (2.30-4pm) at St Mary's Centre.

NAG Meeting. Haddenham and Long Crendon Neighbourhood Action Group will be meeting at Brill Village Hall next Wednesday (7.30pm).

BINGO. Haddenham and District Age Concern will be holding another of their bingo evenings for all ages at the Youth and Community Centre, Woodways, next Thursday. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
