‘Evil butler’ Rob James-Collier, who plays footman Thomas Barrow in ITV’s Downton Abbey, is running the London Marathon for the Chilterns MS Centre.

The actor, who has a personal connection to the centre in Halton, is hoping to raise £10,000 for the centre which provides support and care for those with multiple sclerosis.

The money raised will help towards the running of the centre so it can continue to offer more than 16,000 patient treatments, such as physiotherapy,

hydrotherapy and reflexology, each year.

Mr James-Collier had planned to run the marathon last year for the centre, but a last minute injury forced him to back out of the 26-mile run.

Now he will join thousands of others for the iconic run round the capital on Sunday, April 26.

Catherine Golds, Chiltern MS Centre’s public relations manager, said: “It’s fantastic for us as a local charity to have such a big name suppport us – we’re delighted.”

On top of training for the marathon and filming for Downton Abbey, Mr James-Collier has filmed a couple of one-off videos in his evil character for his fans.
