The team at denta-care in Aylesbury are supporting Mouth Cancer Action Month this November to help check for symptoms of a disease that claims around 2,000 lives each year. Organised by the British Dental Health Foundation and sponsored by Denplan, Mouth Cancer Action Month aims to increase public awareness of the risk factors, signs and symptoms, and encourages everybody visit their dentist regularly to help spot the disease early.
“Mouth cancer can often be spotted in its early stages by a dentist during a mouth
examination and, if caught early, there is a 90 percent chance of survival,” said Dinesh Ramdoo at denta-care. “Dental teams are in the ideal position to share information about the risks and symptoms of mouth cancer with their patients.
“With this in mind, we are welcoming both existing patients and the general public to visit the practice for a free mouth cancer check between 16th and 20th November.
“The mouth cancer check* will involve a quick and painless examination as well as
discussing any concerns the patient may have such as mouth ulcers that haven’t healed
within three weeks, red or white patches or other unusual lumps or swellings in their

research has shown that the disease is becoming more common in younger patients and
in women. Nearly 7,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with mouth cancer every year –
an increase of more than a third compared to a decade ago. Sadly, more than 2,000 people in the UK lose their life to mouth cancer every year and many of these deaths could be prevented if the cancer was caught early enough. That’s why we are extremely grateful that denta-care is offering free mouth cancer checks this November.”
