'Demolish Civic' suggests poll

Nearly 60 per cent of voters in an online Bucks Herald poll favour demolishing the Civic Centre in Aylesbury and replacing it with shops and restaurants as part of the Waterside scheme.

The poll attracted 220 votes, 91 (41 per cent) of which said the Civic should be saved to allow it to be continued to be used as a community facility.

However, 59 per cent (129) said the venue should be reduced to rubble.

The poll reflects the split public opinion in Aylesbury over the Civic's future.

Opponents against it being demolished argue there is nowhere else in Aylesbury which can cater so well for community groups, charity functions and amateur dramatics.
