A robber has stolen what police have described as ‘a large amount of cash’ from a convenience store in Aylesbury.

At about 8.35pm yesterday evening (Monday), a member of staff was approached outside the back door of the One Stop Shop in Meadow Way by a man who put what looked like a gun to her head.

The man directed the woman into the shop and ordered her to open the safe before stealing the money.

The offender is white with a large nose and stocky and was wearing light coloured clothing and gloves.

The man was carrying a holdall over his back and spoke with an Eastern European accent.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Simon Johnson said: “A robbery occurred at the One Stop Shop in Aylesbury yesterday.

“Thankfully the member of staff was unhurt however this was a frightening experience for her.

“I would ask anyone with information about the offence to contact police either by calling us via 101 or visiting their nearest police station.

“Fortunately incidents of this type are extremely rare.

“Officers are in the area making enquiries and members of the public can feel reassured we are doing everything we can to identify the offender.”
