Pensioner charged with £36,000 Royal British Legion theft

A 70-year-old man has been charged with theft after money was stolen from bank accounts and collection tins belonging to The Royal British Legion.

Joseph Allen, of Paterson Road in Aylesbury, was charged with stealing more than £16,000 from bank accounts belonging to the Legion, and more than £20,000 from charity collection poppy tins, also belonging to the organisation.

The offences took place across Aylesbury Vale between January 2011 and December 2014.

Allen was bailed to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates Court on April 27.
