Council putting the future of Aylesbury in your hands

WITH 10,000 new homes planned for Aylesbury, the council want you to help shape the town's future.

People throughout Aylesbury have already taken the opportunity to find out how they can help shape the town's future – and there's still time for even more people to get involved.

Aylesbury Vale District Council launched a major public consultation at the end of October about where 10,000 new homes should be built around Aylesbury between now and 2026.

Planning officers have been on a two-week tour of the town and surrounding villages to give residents an opportunity to have their say. In total, around 2,000 people have attended eight public exhibitions to find out more about the options for growth.

Councillor John Cartwright, Leader of the Council, was delighted with the response to the exhibitions. "The events have been very successful in raising awareness of the challenges facing us all and the important decisions that must be taken about the future growth of Aylesbury," he said.

Even though the public exhibitions have now finished, there is still time for residents to look at the growth options, put forward their views and submit questions.

The deadline for responses is Friday 12 December and people can submit their views by post or via the council's website.

All the views received will be taken into account before the council submits its proposals to the government next year.

Councillor Cartwright added: "It's essential that local people join in the consultation. This is an ideal opportunity for them to influence how Aylesbury grows. It's really easy to get involved and I hope that people throughout Aylesbury and the surrounding area take the opportunity to have their say."

The consultation documents are also available from AVDC customer service centres in Aylesbury, Buckingham and Winslow, and from local libraries. An exhibition showing the proposals is on display in the customer service centre at the council's High Street offices in Aylesbury.
