A restaurant chain celebrated its double win at an industry awards ceremony with a party at each of its gastropubs.

Oakman Inns held a bash at the Cook & Fillet, which recently refurbished and reopened in Kingswood, after it scooped Best Employer and Best Community Pub at The Publican awards.

The firm did the same at all seven of its other sites throughout Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, putting on complimentary canapes and glasses of bubbly for customers.

Chief executive Peter Borg-Neal toasted staff and customers, saying: “To win an award that recognises the work everyone puts into their local communities is absolutely incredible. It’s a testament to my staff’s attitude to work, play and their fellow citizens.

“The local community – which I hope is a nice way of saying ‘our regulars’ – are a privilege to serve and work with in all their activities. Buying everyone a drink is the least I can do.”

Peter also used the occasion to introduce the pub’s new head chef Scott Stanton, who showcased his new spring/summer menu which uses a lot of local ingredients.
