Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall named as Honorary Air Commodore at RAF Halton

CAMILLA, Duchess of Cornwall will be the new Honorary Air Commodore for RAF Halton, it has been announced.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duchess of Cornwall was 'delighted' to take up the appointment at the base near Wendover.

Halton is the only air force station to hold the Queen's Colour and the additional honour is a reflection of the vital role that Halton plays in the Royal Air Force.

More than 20,000 students undergo training at Halton each year and in her capacity as Halton's Honorary Air Commodore, the Duchess of Cornwall will be able to experience and contribute to the sense of pride and professionalism of the new recruits.

Speaking after the announcement, group captain, Richard Gammage, said: "It is a great honour for Royal Air Force Halton to be given this Royal accolade. We play a very important part in training people for the defence of our nation and I am sure the Duchess of Cornwall will enjoy meeting our impressive instructors and students."
