The petition is calling for improvements to Brook End road in Weston Turville, where Ben lost his life last Saturday.

The group decided to start the petition as their MAD (Make A Difference) Week activity.

MAD week is an initiative run by the John Colet where each form has a dedicated week to make a difference through either fundraising for charity, highlighting issues within society or making community visits.

Year 11 student Harriet Hull said: “We have been devastated over the sudden loss of Ben and felt we absolutely had to do something positive as quickly as we could to prevent something like this happening again.”

Head teacher Christine McLintock said: “This is such an important issue and one which is close to the hearts of everyone at the John Colet. I am proud of 11C for starting this petition and delighted at the response it has received.”

At the weekend friends of Ben also gathered to launch balloon lanterns in memory of him.
