Long Crendon catering firm reinvented

WHEN the managers of a catering firm in Long Crendon wanted to reinvent their brand, they did not have too far to travel for help.

Greg and Liz Panter, who have run Cavendish Events for seven years, turned to food marketing expert Sally Dorling, who lives in the village, and who saw that the business was underselling itself.

Mrs Dorling said: "They provided fantastic food but basically they had been underselling themselves and not really developed the business because they didn't have the time or experience to do it.

"They were not tapping into their potential, but now they are."

Six months on, Cavendish Events, which was known primarily for wedding catering, has been divided into three separate brands- Xcite for occasions such as corporate and sports events; Cavendish Creative for private parties; and Biomio which is a combination of the two, but focuses on organic, local and environmentally sustainable foods.

A new website, www.cavendishevents.co.uk, was also launched earlier this month.

Mrs Dorling has been running her Marketing Food business for eight months, but has always been involved in the food industry.

"It came together well," she said. "I'm helping some local food companies, there's a lot of talented businesses out there, but which are not marketing themselves as well as they could."
