A mother-of-two has embarked on a career change and opened a new store selling unique furniture and other items.
Holy Cow Home opened in Aylesbury on Saturday and is the brainchild of Poonam Gupta.
Mrs Gupta, 43, from Weedon previously worked in accountancy but said she felt it was time ‘to take a risk’ and do something different with her life.
Mrs Gupta said: “I was very pleased with how the opening went, the store has been well received.
“I felt it was the right time in my life to set this up and allow my creative side to come out.”
Holy Cow Home started life as a small gift area at the back of the now closed shop The Jewellery Lady.
It now has its own stand alone building at 6 Cambridge Street selling furniture, rugs, bags and fashion accessories which are imported from overseas.
Photographer and stylist for Holy Cow Home Janice Issitt said: “Most of the furniture has an antique element to it.
“A lot of it is imported from India and the lady who supplies it to us goes over there and selects the pieces personally so we know where they came from.”
As part of the opening, Mrs Gupta’s daughter Chaya, 16, dressed up with a couple of friends in a cow costume in an effort to raise awareness of the new store.
Mrs Gupta said: “I hope this store goes some way towards making Aylesbury a more attractive place to shop.”
